Hello and
welcome to one of my causes that
I support. I have had the
fortunate opportunity to be
involved with the Relay for Life
Walk every year. Although,
I did not participate since this
year, I really beleive in this
cause.
When I first moved to the city,
from the country area, I did not
know anything about the Relay for
Life. One day as I was a
manager for another company, I
got an invitation to participate
in this worthwhile cause. I
did go to a first meeting, and
started thinking that this would
be a way to sorta pay back to the
cancer society, and hospice, for
taking good care of my parents
when they were dying of cancer.
And also thought that if we help
to raise money, then one day,
they will find a cure to help all
and everyone who suffers from
this dreaded desease. I started
out with one team, and we would
have fund raisers. Cinnamon
bread, and had food booths on
special holidays in Hawaii to
where we would have hugh block
parties, and my team and family
and friends, would sell plate
lunches, which all of the food
was donated either by my company,
family and friends. All of
our profits would go towards
Relay for Life.
It was a good way to spend
quality time with your loved
ones, and working together with
special friends that come to your
aid whenever we needed
help. But most importantly
was the thought that if we do
this, if we work together and
raise enough funds, we just may
help make a miracle happen.
And we believe in this so
much. That is why we worked
hard towards our goal, and it was
so much fun to do.
The day of the big event, we
would go to the public baseball
park and start to set up our
tents, and bring all our goodies
to eat and drink. Then
after the survivors walk around
the field, we would begin.
In the mean time we had
entertainment, booths to check
out, friends to visit who had
their own teams.
Participate in contests. We
always came in first for the
talent contest. As the
night went on, everone took thier
turn in walking for Life.
Hubby was the last to make the
final 15 hours of walking.
By that time the sun was
rising. Breakfast was made
in the main tent of the Relay
Walk For Life, and everyone
shared one last meal together
before we started to break down
our camp sites and go home.
Inside of me filled with alot of
love, thankfulness, to all those
who helped to make it
happen. And to God our
Father, for giving us the
strength and good health, for us
to be able to do this. One
day soon, we will have and find a
cure for the dreaded cancer.
